Appliance Removal in Union City
We take out the old fridge, washer, dryer, stove or freezer, carry it through your home with care for your walls and floors, and haul it to a recycler that handles refrigerant and scrap metal by the rules. You get the space back and no worry about where it ends up.
Old Appliances Need More Than a Truck
An appliance is not like a couch. A refrigerator, freezer, dehumidifier or window AC unit holds refrigerant. Federal rules say that gas has to be recovered with the proper equipment before the unit is crushed or scrapped. It can't just be vented or tossed in a landfill. We take those units to recycling facilities set up to do that recovery, so the job is done right after it leaves your home.
Washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers and water heaters are mostly steel. They go to metal recyclers, not the trash. We sort each piece by where it can legally and properly go, and we tell you where that is if you ask.
This is the right call when you are replacing an appliance and the store won't haul the old one, when a unit died in the garage or basement, or when you're clearing out a rental or a parent's house.
What Our Appliance Removal Covers
Disconnect help for water hookups
We shut the valve and unhook a washer or fridge ice maker line, then cap or drain what we can so nothing leaks on your floor. If a hookup is hard-plumbed or wired in and needs a plumber or electrician, we'll point that out before we start.
Gas appliances handled safely
For a gas range or dryer, the gas line should be shut off and capped by a plumber or your gas company. We'll check that it has been done before we move the unit. We don't take chances with gas.
Careful carry-out
We use dollies, straps and floor runners. Door frames and stair edges get padded on tight turns. Heavy units like chest freezers get two people, every time.
Refrigerant units to the right place
Fridges, freezers, wine coolers, dehumidifiers and window units go to facilities that recover refrigerant before scrapping.
Metal recycling
Steel-body appliances go to scrap recyclers instead of the landfill.
Sweep-up after
We sweep the spot where the unit sat. Old appliances leave dust, lint and the odd lost sock behind.
Signs It's Time to Get That Appliance Out
The new one arrives soon
Plenty of delivery crews won't take the old unit, or they charge extra and only take it from the curb. Booking us lets you clear the spot first.
A dead fridge in the garage
Georgia summers are hard on garage fridges. Once one quits, it starts to smell and can leak. Better to move it before that happens.
It's leaking or rusting through
A water heater weeping at the base or a washer leaving puddles can damage floors and drywall. Getting it out stops the slow damage.
You tried to move it yourself
If it's stuck on the basement stairs or wedged in a doorway, stop there. We deal with that every week.
Spare appliances you never use
An old chest freezer or second dryer taking up floor space is worth clearing out.
How the Job Goes on the Day
- 1
You call, we look
Tell us what needs to go and where it sits. We come out for a free, no-obligation on-site estimate and give you a firm price before any work starts.
- 2
Prep and disconnect
We check the gas is capped if there is gas, shut water valves and drain hoses into a bucket. Floors get covered along the path out.
- 3
Carry it out
Two of us move the unit out on a dolly, strapped tight, and load it on the truck. We watch your walls, railings and door frames on the way.
- 4
Haul and sort
Refrigerant units go to a recovery facility, metal goes to the scrap recycler and anything else goes where it belongs. Then we sweep up the spot.
What Moves the Price
We quote after we see the job, and the price we give you is the price you pay. That is our upfront pricing with no hidden fees. Here is what changes the number.
- How many units
- One washer costs less than a washer, dryer and old freezer together. Several pieces on one trip often work out better per item.
- Where it sits
- A fridge in the garage is a quick job. A chest freezer at the bottom of narrow basement stairs takes more time and more hands.
- Refrigerant handling
- Units with refrigerant cost more to dispose of properly because the recycler has to recover the gas first.
- Size and weight
- A side-by-side fridge or a full water heater weighs a lot more than a small dishwasher. Water heaters may need draining before they can move.
Appliance Removal Questions
Something not covered here? (404) 991-6465
Can you take a refrigerator that still has food in it?
Please empty it first. Spoiled food leaks during the move and the recycler won't take a full unit. If it's been dead for a while and smells bad, tell us when you call so we can bring extra bags and plastic.
Do you disconnect gas stoves and dryers?
No. A gas line should be shut off and capped by a plumber or your gas company. Once that's done we'll handle the rest. It's a safety and code issue, and we won't cut corners on it.
Where does my old fridge actually go?
To a facility that recovers the refrigerant before the body gets scrapped. That's what federal rules require for units with refrigerant. The metal then gets recycled.
Can you take an old water heater?
Yes. It needs to be drained and disconnected first. If yours is still hooked up, have your plumber disconnect it when they install the new one, and we'll haul the old tank.
How soon can you come?
Same-day and next-day service available, depending on the week. We work in Union City and nearby towns like Fairburn, South Fulton and Palmetto. If you also have old furniture or a cluttered garage, ask about furniture removal or garage cleanouts on the same visit.
